Joshua Wilcocks was appointed as the lieutenant of Captain John Nash's additional company of the 62nd Regiment of Foot on 2 March 1776. As such, he helped recruit new men for the regiment while the regiment was serving in America. Wilcocks was soon after reassigned and appointed the Town-Major of Limerick, Ireland on 30 April 1777. With that appointment, he appears to have left any active recruiting service with the regiment, although he was still technically part of it. He retired his commission in 1780.
